Difficult question, especially since it depends upon sub-genre and my mood at any given moment.

Moonstruck is the ultimate I-have-pms-eat-junkfood chick flick. When Harry Met Sally also fits into this category.

16 Candles is the ultimate 80's-high-school-nostalgia chick flick, with Pretty in Pink as a close second (and Vision Quest as third runner-up).

For the obligatory-Julia-Roberts chick flick, I'm divided between Best Friend's Wedding and Steel Magnolias.

For chillin'-with-my-sistahs chick flicks, there's Brown Sugar, Breakin' All the Rules, and Something New.

If I'm feeling like something semi-educational (or some semblance thereof), theres the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice (the one with Colin Firth).

If I'm in the mood for something cutesy and meaningless (and/or if I'm hungover), then there's Bring It On, The Sweetest Thing, The Wedding Singer, and both Charlies Angels movies.

That should about cover it....

The Sweetest Thing is hilarious! Definitely a chick flick! A few others I really like are:

50 First Dates
Sweet Home Alabama
Ever After
13 Going on 30
A Lot Like Love
Bed of Roses
Coyote Ugly
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Just Married
Legends of the Fall
Troy

Have fun and get ready to laugh and cry!!!

If my wife were here, she would want you ladies to make sure you haven't missed Bull Durham. This is a great couple's movie. I think it's the best baseball movie ever made. She thinks it's about the most romantic movie ever made. ("Oh, my!") Because of its double appeal, it gets missed by a lot of guys who think it's JUST a chick flick and by a lot of women who think it's JUST a baseball movie. If nothing else, this is where Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon began their real life long term romance. And Kevin Costner was still so new that he wasn't full of himself.

Tag lines for the movie: "It's all about sex and sport. What else is there?" "Romance is a lot like baseball. It's not whether you win or lose. It's how you play the game."

I've always liked Return to Me with David Duchovny and Minnie Driver. The story line seems a little far fetched but the overall movie presentation was superb. And the audience got to see a side of David Duchovny he never really had a chance to show.

Another is You've Got Mail with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Again the storyline, a little weird but the acting was fantastic. The ending made me leap for joy though. All in all two great movies!
