My amazing fourteen year old son and forty two year old husband apparently "know everything". Is this age related, gender related, or genetics?

I recently grounded him from World of Warcraft and all he did was make me miserable and watch television. I couldn't wait until he was ungrounded and back on the computer. (I don't believe in any form of physical punishement.)
Any suggestion on how to corect the fourteen year old?

I just tried the screaming psycho fit!
It worked really well and I was finally able to get his attention.... Yeah!

Don't worry this new trick won't be used except in extreme cases. A screaming mad mom definetely made some eyebrows raise around the house.

You have my sympathies. If you want extra practice, I've got a 14 year old son you can have. I'll even pay the postage.

Yes, they are an alien species. Hopefully, metamorphosis to humanity shouldn't be that far off now, I'm sure we are more than half way through.

Have you tried absolute screaming psycho fit? That can be effective,

my son is 14.5 and is typical. i have been dreading this age. all they do is talk talk talk about things they think they know about. as for world of warcraft, maybe thats not the best thing to have for him. my son wants it, but i said no. all its going to do is encourage them to be on the computer. not to mention you have to pay to play it. it sounds like your son has lost touch with the real world (which happens easily for them) but encourage him to invite friends over. we've told my boy that there is no more msn - he has to use the phone if he wants to talk to someone. at this age they can still do fun non video/computer things like sledding or creating a movie if you have a video camera, cooking, or send them for a walk to a store to get you something, even if you don't really need it : ) good luck. as for the husband, well i don't think they ever really grow up! ; )

YES!!! all 14 year old boys are aliens. From here on out, he'll either start getting better in a year or 2, or get really bad until about 18. I'm only a 14 year old girl, but i have a brother( a nice one, never got in trouble), but i knew his friends they were horrible sometimes. It will get better though.

It's just him being a typical teen - if you have to, unplug all electronic appliances that would tempt him and keep them that way!

Tell him he has better things to do than spend his day fighting pretend enemies on a screen...I'm sure he does!

Get him involved in a sport or activity. He may find that there's more to life than computer games, TV and other electrical entertainment...

Nope, they don't believe that at all about God, and Joseph Smith didn't actually become the leader of the church until he was 24 when the church was founded. Either way, if you say Satan existed then God has to exist. You can't deny God yet still believe in Satan.

Gender related, we might be wrong but we know everything.
All you can do is stick with the grounding, and make sure he is doing it. Both with son, and hubby.

if he manages to keep you misrable no matter what, send him to a lawyer school.
now what you do, is if you know he's making you misrable on purpose, take away the TV. if he tries again, take away that thing.

you're soppoused to keep a restriction cycle untill he breaks. then take away all groundings to 3 days.
