MOST INTERNET PROVIDERS OFFER FREE SECURITY. CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR INTERNET SERVICE OFFERS THEM (NORTON, MCAFEE, ETC) FOR FREE. IF THEY DO, YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE SECURITY SECTION TO DOWNLOAD THEM. AFTER THAT, MOST AUTOMATICALLY SCAN AND REMOVE THREATS.

There are a couple patchwork temporary fixes, and a permanent fix:
1. Temporary fix. Install Windows and then download AVG or AntiVir, and then update them at www.majorgeeks.com That will fix them for a while, but some of the 114,000 viruses that infect Windows will likely come back.
2. Permanent fix. Dump Windows, and install kubuntu at www.kubuntu.org for free.

Try AVG, which is FREE and good! http://free.grisoft.com. Also download Windows Defender from Microsoft--it's free and works very well with AVG.
