You're right. Nagging is revolting, and it's not just women who do it. My ex was constantly on my back to change this, do that, I want this, I want that - when he got it, it was never good enough, and he'd find something else to nag about. He was a bit physically abusive at that, but it was the nagging that really wore me down. No-one should be heckled like that, or made to feel like nothing they do is good enough. I think maybe you're over-reacting about the jokes about 'training' men - let's face it, both genders cop stuff like that and it's usually not meant to hurt anyone, it's just a bit ill thought out. But when it comes to the heart of what you're saying, you're right that respect is everything in a relationship, and that you're far more willing to do things for a partner that respects you. I know I am.

Nagging is an unattractive quality, but often men just don't hear us when we ask them to do something- I believe women's lib went way overboard; I believe a man should open doors and take out the rubbish (except that takes him two weeks to get around to doing....and I try not to ask more than twice!) And although women can vote and have equal rights, I do believe men have become emasculated by those women who believe that their rights are above those of men. It's a sad world when the grass is greener on the other side- I love my husband to pieces; I'm a stay at home mum, I cook clean wash...make the beds and love my family- sometimes I just want a little something to remind me I'm appreciated; and he feels the same way. He was married to one of those women you speak of, and honestly, I could have three horns and a parylitic limp, and he'd still want me for the love and care I give him! Women, don't be afraid to be FEMININE and to CARE!!!

I agreed with the first half but then you said all you have to do to get a man to do anything is to treat him like a man. That's true too, I guess, but that's also training. It's just positive reinforcement. "Wow, you're so strong, I couldn't get that jar open no matter what!" Same thing. He'll be opening jars all over the place. I think a better option is like what you said in the beginning. The person you met in the beginning is the one you want. Same goes for the man. He wants the same woman he met in the beginning.
So be yourself.

I agree, nagging is awful. Women should know their place in the marriage/relationship. Be dutiful, loving, and above all, respectful. I think I'm one of the few women who still think like this, it saddens me. She should also be modest!
