Some say that the government should be worrying about more important things but isnt it little things like that tearing our society apart? And doesn't every deserve the same rights as others? Does anyone else think that this is still descrimination and that it is a major downfall of the Australian government to put a an on gay marriages?

colorado: really? they choose to be that way? i think you should do some research before you ignorantly answer questions. being gay transcends culture, upbringing, class, era, economy, geography, ANYTHING!!! it doesn't matter where, when, or how you were born. do you truly believe that there 15 year old heterosexual boys out there with all the s h i t and stress 15 year olds go through sitting in his room going, "my life sucks. no girls like me. i suck at school. i have no friends. but hey, i think i will 'turn' gay to bring some more non-stop harrassment into my life"? oh ya that's a real fun "CHOICE" people make huh? having the thought of the concept of getting the s h i t kicked out of them everyday by retards like you. you need to learn a little bit of what they go through eveyday and you will see why people make the comparisons to racism. the discriminations are eerily similar.
gay marriage should be allowed. you know? good for you! you found some one who loves you for you and you love them for them! congrats!
p.s.: dont make stupid a s s comparisons to beastiality or rape either... gay marriage is a SHARED love. animals cannot tell you if they approve of what you are doing and rape obviously is not consentual...

You'll never get an answer that isn't based in religion or fear/hatred. You'll get posts about "morality" "god said so" "the definition of the word" and maybe even "the states should decide". The people who are against same sex marriage will never be able to provide a logical or legal reason, they just know they don't like gay people and don't want them to have the same rights as the rest of us. Heck you'll even have some people claiming it's a "special right".

Yes, they should. In Washington State, there's a group trying to get a law passed that would require couples to have a child within three years of marrying. Their point, of course, is that the rhetoric of 'marriage is for child rearing' is bogus.

It should be allowed, and governments have to take their time to make laws since there are so many activist lobbying to prevent gay marriage from being legal

If the goal of the government is to encourage stable relationships and stable families, then of course they should sanction marriage between consenting adults, regardless of sex.
Should the government call it "marriage"-perhaps not. Perhaps, the government should refrain from calling any union between adults and "marriage" and leave that term to religious organizations, and call all sanctioned relationships between two consenting adults, regardless of the sex of those involved "civil union"

I think that marriage should be for everyone. My next door neighbors are in LOVE and have been for many years. They should be allowed to get married just like evryone else.

Marriage is not for two people of the same gender. If gays want a legally binding arrangement similar to a marriage then let them think of their own word for it. "Marriage" is already taken by the heteros!

Actually, socitey is what is ruining the minds of pple. The world thinks now that gays are "ok. leave them alone. be tolerant of other things. they were born that way." PLEASE you bunch of MO-FO's! :) NOBODY is born that way. and 2o years ago they were unheard of. so why all of a sudden did anti-gay people becomme the bad guys??? And 4 all you gays...if it was sooo natural. Why would every boy be attracted to a GIRL if they were grown up w/o OTHER influence?? And your argument is they were born that way. No they weren't! the answer depends whether or not it affects you. i could not care less, one way or the other and i do not mean in the literal sense. seriously, it does not bother me a bit..whether the government -- any government legislates it as a right or leaves it unsolved -- if you are personally affected you will get my vote if you want the way you think is right for you -- if no one asks my opinion -- i rest my case and rest indifferent to the situation.
