Imagery?
The American Heritage Dictionary says this:
"im·age·ry (¹m“¹j-r¶) n., pl. im·age·ries. 1. A set of mental pictures or images. 2.a. The use of vivid or figurative language to represent objects, actions, or ideas. b. The use of expressive or evocative images in art, literature, or music. c. A group or body of related images, as in a painting or poem. 3.a. Representative images, particularly statues or icons. b. The art of making such images."
However, you may mean a technique used for healing.
There are two ways of application, one self-guided and one guided by someone else. The effect can be similar.
E.g., one imagines a beautiful landscape, with trees, a lake, a river, the sea or whatever one likes most. One imagines to feel the sun and the wind, hear the birds and the bees, or soft music of one's liking. One may imagine that an angel appears with an uplifting message. One is thankful, relaxed, in the alpha state (calm brain waves) and happy. One stays in this landscape as long as liked or guided by someone. Then one returns to one's normal state of beta brain waves.
Or, e.g., one imagines that all the brown spots on the skin are cleared by tiny fairy helpers, who leave the skin blameless.
One can repeat such imagery every day for a few minutes, if liked. It could enforce the results.
There are also cassettes and CDs which guide though the process. It is best to remain positive throughout the exercise.
The Bio*Chakra Light MeditationTM isone of the most powerful I have experienced.
Imagine, your power to imagine anything positive and beneficial for you and the world! Imagine!

A big silver Mercedes Benz van, The moon shined brightly on the lake, the sun is like a fireball, goldfish are gold color, the dog is a gold-brown color. These were just some examples.
Simple Definition- Imagery is a description and you can picture that description given. Or imagery is something you can visualize.

Imagery is conveyed through descriptive terms: think words ending in "-ly", adjectives. Imagery relies upon the five major senses. Color...scent...flavor. Mostly elements of sight.
Sometimes poets add a color to a line simply to draw the reader's eyes into a poem's imagery.
"Like the dew upon the mountain
Like the foam upon the river
Like the bubble of the fountain
Thou art gone and...forever." - Lady of the Lake
Feel the dew, see the foam and hear the bubble. They're all in motion. And the love of Sir Walter Scott is extinguished in death.
Hope I've helped.
