I dont hear these big drug makers , money hungry companys make a vaccine for men in any category mandatory! Who the hell do these drug monguls think they are? Who owns these drug cartels? I mean you get street drugs , and legal drugs , just as addictive ,made to bring in big money ! Prescribe by doctors who I really think dont care! That whole HPV live virus vaccination is completely bogus!! There is no law mandating that anyone has to take a vaccination. Not even the polio and all those shots we're supposed to have by 18mo or whatever. You don't have to take them.

Yes. I guess I'm confused about the outrage though because all children have to be vaccinated already for other diseases, which is mandatory. The only difference here is it is for girls. This vaccination will severely reduce the risk of cervical cancer, which kills women ONLY. Our governor wants to make it madatory that all girls get the vaccination. Now, if this drug has not been tested properly, then I am in complete agreement with you.

I live in Texas, and you named my main concern about this--that these are relatively new drugs, and so we can't be sure of the long-term results. Then again, any time a new drug is introduced (like the mandatory polio vaccines of the 50's & 60's), that was a risk. The problem is that this kind of cervical cancer really is reaching epidemic proportions among young women.
As long as the parents have the right to file papers to keep their child from having to be vaccinated (as they do in Texas), I'm not too outraged. What really bothers me is the people who think this is "permission to be sexually promiscuous." As if the polio vaccines gave us permission to swim in untreated swimming pools....

It is not the drug companies but state governments that are demanding it. Texas just recently ordered the vaccine for all 6th graders. Parents are outraged. The drug company is pulling all of the ads for it because of the backlash, but they never promoted it as a mandatory vaccine.

I kind of agree with you. Giving children vaccines without proper research into their longterm effects isn't right. While the idea of the vaccine is really noble, there should be more research into it. If anything can help prevent cancer, it is a bonus.

Frankly, I can't understand why a mother of a daughter would prevent her from receiving a vaccine to prevent the daughter from getting cervical cancer.....that, to me, is child abuse.
