The property belongs to the GOVT...and they do not like it...it's considered littering...and basically it is.

There is nothing wrong with roadside memorials..When I pass them I always pray for the family and think of a life lost!

It causes people to look at them and not pay attention while driving. There have been several recent cases where this has ended up in fatalities.

Although I do sympathize and understand the reasons behind them, I don't think it's a good idea.

Also, where does it end? Should people set up memorials everywhere where people die?

I don't think so. When I pass one, I think of a life lost that could have been prevented. I think of the shock the family and friends must have endured. I think they remind us to drive carefully and even if another driver is acting like a jerk, that doesn't mean you have to follow his/her example.

I don't think it's wrong - I don't see why it would be. Maybe because it would be a distraction to other drivers if there is a lot of writing or something like that...

Who says it's wrong? when I pass by them I think how awful the family must feel and how often they have to drive past that road.
