Here is WI we have had EXTENSIVE problems with minority youth at a local upscale shopping mall. These incidents almost always involve guns and beating up on whites. Recently a mom's van was bashed over a parking spot and they beat up a white kid leaving on a bus.

BUT - every time a solution is proposed, it is called RACIST.

These are ALL minorities of the same race. The police are called to this mall 200 times a week. I shop there - but not anymore...

THREE other malls in WI in this area were closed FOR THIS VERY REASON - THIS IS THEIR NEW HANGOUT.
(Closed, Capital Court, Southgate, and Northrige if you care to check on this?.

How can we reach a solution if the RACE CARD is pulled at EVERY suggestion to fix the problem? This mall unlike the other 3 caters to more upscale customers so the youth do not shop there. They hang out (they did a study - it is not MY opinion).

I don't see the connection between political correctness and minority crime. The extensive crime could probably be linked to several factors; One, the family does not do what they have to do to keep the kids in at night where they belong nor do they check up on them to see what they are doing and who they are hanging out with. There might also be a lack of school and community programs that provide alternatives to hanging around the mall. Lastly, if the mall has a lot of stores and things that attract teenagers, the teenagers (regardless of race) will congregate there.
Crime is not limited to minorities. I am pretty much sure that statistics will prove that ALL races are involved as perpetrators and victims.
One solution would be for the mall to change their selection of stores. If the young people had a choice of hanging out at a mall that had Sears, Barnes and Noble, Bed Bath and Body Works, etc they would probably not hang out there choosing instead to hang in a place with music stores, theatres, and youth clothing stores, etc. The mall needs to decide what clientelle they want to serve and adjust the mall accordingly. By refusing to shop there, you took the first step. You told the mall that if they don't clean up their problems that you won't shop there.
The community needs to get involved also and have more programs and activities on the weekends and after school to deter kids from hanging at the mall.
Lastly, it's time for parents to be parents and take an interest in what their children are doing and who they are doing it with.
I remember Northridge and went there with my parents many times. When I went with friends as a teenager, I minded my ps and qs. God forbid, if I had to call my dad and tell him I was in Police custody. Odds are he knew where I was and who I was with anyway.

I'm not sure why the malls can't pass laws against *teenagers* loitering at the mall. It would solve the problem without being race-specific.

It sounds like the problem isn't so much political correctness--although in this case, it's clearly playing a part--as lax laws about teenagers in general. Where I live, some townships passed laws about teenagers loitering in general, and it helped quite a bit.

I'd say lack of jobs, cross cultural machismo, over masculanated society as patriarchy and bordom are enabling minority crime. PC is not even a bandaid when it comes to dealing with real problems. I'm tired of hearing people use the P.C card or on the flip side, discredit PC in our society. PC is not the real issue. The real issue is lack of opportunity for youth. When places are hiring illegals where teenagers used to work, that leaves a huge vacuum. that vacuum for youth takes the form of either entitlement (middle class whites) where they don't have to work and they are bored. Or, in the case of kids from poorer neighborhoods, it's lack of opportunity and a decent education combined with images on television of over masculanated culture whether that is the form of military aggression, rap music aggression, Hollywood, video games, aggressive sports like football, or other factors. The fact is males are aggressive because that is what our culture perpetuates. Black culture in particular because many yough black males are afraid to look less than macho. It's sad but it's fact. That's why you see alot of rap music videos that are so mysogenistic. There was a great documentary on PBS last night on this very thing. I think it is just going to get worse simply because you are dealing with alot of angry youth.

Is it OK to hold the President of this country in utter contempt when he shows a complete lack of honor?
If a man's lies cause the deaths of thousands of our great nations finest young men,and women, and he shows an increasingly arrogant lack of remorse. Then that man has no honor, and a man without honor deserves no respect.

In our area the police put a sub station in a area of concern. If the police are called to your mall 200 times a week, it would pay for your police to rent a space,

Race should have no bearing on the police doing their job. As long as they conduct themselves within the limits of the law, why would anyone play the race card? Crime is crime regardless of race, religion or ethnicity. If this conduct is truly as widespread as you claim, the solution seems obvious.

What is the "solution" that is being proposed?

Here in florida our malls were turning into hang outs, and we proposed a "solution" that fixed the problem and wasn't deemed "racist" by anyone.

The only solution that would not be called racist would be one involving minors of all races, and the rich white people would never agree to that, so they are stuck in a rut if you ask me.

I can't answer this question unless I knew what "solution" had been proposed.

When race is at issue in how people are being treated, that isn't just "political correctness," it is constitutional law.

I'd be interested to know what solutions were proposed that were deemed racist. It seems like there should be a solution that everyone, PC or not, could be OK with.
