I personally would go with pads for the first few times
then as time goes on go to tampons after speaking with someone about proper insertion.

On a personal note , tampons today are much better then they were a while ago, so sizes vary and types. so much to choose from
But pads were My preference

Good luck

It all depends on what you think. I used pads when I first got my period but now I use tampons. I feel that the tampon is better but you need to be taught how to use it and it can be difficult to use at the begining.

If you're 11, I would recommend the pads full time. It's winter anyway, so it's not like you're going to be swimming. You do know about that syndrome that goes along with tampons, right? The younger you are, the more at risk you are--so stay with pads for as long as possible--be sure to change them at least every 4 hours.

I find that tampons are better. I've always used tampons because I don't have to worry of a pad showing through my jeans or getting a leak. The only hard part for some girls is learning how to put them in, but once u lear it'll get easy.

I used a pad for the first few times until I got the hang of it. Now I use both in case my tampon leaks.

If you just got your period i think pads are better for you.
Besides its better if blood comes out rather than stays inside and produces bacteria.
You can use a tampon in special occasions when you are wearing a skirt. And remember that you have to change tampon every 4 hours.

I would recommend pads for you because of your age and just starting. But after you get used to this it is really up to you and what you feel most comfortable with. Experiment with both and then YOU choose what you like best. If you go with pads I recommend Always Ultra Thins Overnights with wings. That is what I use and I like them. You don't know they are there half the time. Good luck and don't be afraid to go to you're mother. You know she loves you and just remember she has gone through all this before.
