I'm currently in 8th grade and this fall I'm going to be attending a high school with a very large student population. It's definately going to be a different and overwhelming experience for me and in a way I am a bit nervous since I was previously bullied and it's definately the last thing I want to happen again. Advice is appreciated.

It's naturally a fairly scary experience heading into a school that's filled with older people. You've gone from being the oldest in your elementary school to the youngest in your high school and you want to fit in. Of course you're afraid! But you don't have to be. :)

First of all, gain some confidence. Remember to be yourself, and to be friendly and smile at everybody. There's no need for anyone to bully you, especially if you're being polite and cheerful to everyone.

Then, have fun by going clothes-shopping for the first day/week of school with some friends. On the first day, meet up with your friends and head to school together. Don't be afraid to ask teachers for directions to your classes, and look over your schedule thoroughly so you're not too confused.

Don't try to hide away in the shadows and be quiet and shy. Smile at everyone that glances your way...not some big gawky fake grin, but a polite and gentle smile to let everybody know that you're a sweet and fun person.

You're still only in grade 8 for the moment. Focus on your grades and keep your grades up during high school. You don't have to be known as the smartest kid around if you don't want to be, but keep your grades soaring. If you're confident with your grades, it relieves a lot more stress. High school is a lot of fun and you gain many more priveleges...for example you get to go to many dances and parties and you can also learn to drive. For some teens, it's finally an opportunity to wear makeup and start dating. Look at the positive side and don't stray over to the negative side. High school will be a blast - after all, life is what you make it into!!

Lol, I just graduated from high school, and I like it a lot better than middle school because people mad fun of me and I was a loner.

So when you get into high school, you have more freedom to do things and usually people grow out of middle school and find theirselves occupid with new friends, clubs, sports, and other things to do, so there shouldn't be people to bully you. Here and there, there'll be fights, probably more violent than in middle school, but if you're nice, you don't cause trouble, everything should be fine.

I think you'll like high school, it's just a time where people change into who they'd want to be. When I was in high school, the nerdy girls from middle school became cheer leaders and became popular with the Jocks, some became emo, some kids that were bad, cleaned up their act. It's different, some people stay the same.

The high school experience is great, and you should incude yourself in the high school activities, its fun. I was scared at first, I was afraid I wouldn't fit in, but in the end, you'll always have a place where you can fit in and get a long. ^_^

Go in with your friends on the first day, that will help. Join clubs if that's your thing or a sport. Relax, the good thing about a big high school is you tend to blend in better and the kids get just a little more mature so the bullying shouldn't be so bad.

Try not to look scared. Look folks in the eye, be , or at least look like you are confident and you should fly below the radar of bullies. Get involved in activities and try to make new friends. By the end of the first week you will have a group you hang with even though you will more than likely move on pretty quick when you find your true friends.

I was bullied a lot in both jr high and highschool try to go in with friends it does make it easier. Trust an adult enough to talk to if stuff starts going wrong don't act like someone your not like a ***** or whatever just try and be nice and be the bigger person. Good luck with highschool but join a club or a sport.

Go in with a positive attitude. Stay close to your friends that you have now. Don't let little things stress you out. Join a club/sport/band/choir etc. Have fun!

Take your time. Enjoy it while it lasts. Before you know it, you'll be out of there and wishing to go back to the bubbled sheltered life of a jr higher or high schooler. =) *sigh* those were the days!
