Just watched The League of Extraordinary Gentleman (again) and noticed Mina Harker went into broad light on Captain Nemo's Nautilus. I know (before any says) that its just a movie, but was how was this possible - unless she was some kind of hybrid. Anyone care to explain.

Yeah, it's one of the most poor-written movies ever. The work seems too childish..

The answer to this question might depend on whether you think the legends and folklore, the novel by Bram Stoker, or previous movies should be considered authoritative. If you are going on previous movies, anything could be right. (Bram Stoker's Dracula, by the way, does NOT clear anything up. I just watched it again and I don't think Coppola read the book. It's an OK movie, but it is NOT Stoker's version of the story.)

In Stoker's novel, Mina never completely becomes a vampire. As long as the vampire feeding on you doesn't kill you in the process, you don't become a vampire. That's why Lucy did become one, but Mina was only in the process of turning when Dracula was killed. After he was killed, she was fine.

As to what this particular movie did or didn't do, I can't remember. But most movies feel free to do what they want with vampires. Which is understandable if you start reading about them. There are so many legends from so many different countries that almost anything is possible. Stoker himself spent years in research before writing the book, and even he took liberties with the traditional legends.

In the original novel of Dracula (where Mina Harker comes from), vampires are perfectly capable of being in sunlight - they just didn't like to. I'm guessing that's how Mina's able to walk around during the day.

Did you see Bram Stokers Dracula? It explained that vampires can go into the day light for short periods of time but they generally don't like to.

You are mixing the wrong two movies. Harker's wife was played by Wyona Rider in Dracula.

Mina Harker was from Dracula, she was the woman he fell in love with, so I would assume she was made a vampire eventually.

OH!!! I love that film, I think it's great! But to your question, I am not 100% sure, if you remember at the beginning after she bites that guy, she also looks in a mirror to clean her face of blood!
In Bram Stoker, Mina was bitten and turned, she came back to life at night and they beheaded her, or was that Lucy? Mina never got bitten, she was Jonathans lady but Dracula fell in love with her, I'm confused now. )-;

i think it was because she wasn't a true vampire. I mean, she was made a vampire and she was a chemist, so how do we know she didn't find a way to control it. I like that movie, by the way.

No, she was a true vampire; I don't know how she did it either, except was it sunlight she went into or artificial light? Only sunlight kills vampires.

It isn't that it is just a movie. It is incredibly poorly written movie. They just screwed up

there are too many contradictions. one thing says she wasn't a vampire and another says she was. who knows. maybe it was a blooper.
