Why don't people every try to start friendships with me?

Question

I'm was very shy but have pushed myself out of it. I try to meet people and make friends but it seems like I am the only one trying. What I mean is I talk to people in class and such all the time, but no one ever starts a conversation with me. I don't mind doing it, but always having to be the one to do it gets tiring and is confusing me. Are most people uninterested in makeing more friends? Do they have all the friends they want? Are there many people who are looking for friends?

(I don't smell bad)

I'm not pushy, most of the time i ask people if they like this class.

Don't be pushy about it or anything... just let the people see the real you and if they like you, they'll start a friendship with you or be the one to start a conversation with you.

I'm in the same boat, although I've never overcame my shyness. Sooo it's hard for me to make new friends, even though I'm a really nice person and what not. It's frustrating at times, but I don't know, I don't let it bother me and when I go start a new job (since I'm not in school) or if I go anywhere I always have a smile on my face and say hi to everyone!!! :)

Check the way you speak, your tone and if your actions speak louder than words. Ask some of your best friends (if you have any) on what they think of you in appearance and the way you speak? Improve on those negatives (if any) and do strike a common conversation in class. Topics that is current and not something that nobody knows what you've talking about.

alot of times just the fact that you are trying will make people not try. it's a part of human nature.
if you are patient, friendly and not pushy it will happen
