I'm English & dont think he should ever had risked our soldiers lives by sending them over there, just to please Bush. If he wants to suck up to the Devil Bush I say do it in his own time & dont expect our soldiers to lick Bushs backside 4 him. Blair is a spineless bum licker who has failed our country big time. After years of trying to get the torys out, we succeeded. We were full of hope about the future, but Blair seemed to become more conserative than the conseratives ! He has failed himself & he has failed his country, his people.

Wonderful news even if it is only 1,600, trouble is how long are they coming home for? will more than 1,600 troops be sent back again in June.

My thoughts on the matter
It has been proven that Tony Blair is a liar and cannot be trusted he has been involved in cover ups, Kidnapping, misappropriating the British peoples hard earned money, giving party funds to his wife, refusing to sack or suspend ministers who are being investigated by the police for criminal acts, responsible for killing thousands of innocent men women and children by invading a country that he knew was innocent of having weapons of mass destruction at the behest of his pal the President of the United States of America.

He has been lying for years to the British public why would we believe anything he says now.
Bringing back the troops is a spin for votes.
Scotland.

I feel good about it for the sake of the lads, but am rather cynical about Blair's motives for deciding to do it now. Do you also feel it is ironic he made this announcement the day after the weekend polls said the Conservatives are going to be the pants off Labour?

I'm American by birth, British for the last 20 years.

I'm from the U.S.

If I were any other country with soldiers in Iraq I would pull them out immediately. There's nothing to be accomplished there. It's the U.S.'s mess, let them clean it up.

England has a little less ability to have that attitude since they were the only real power to join us going in in the first place. Our president pointed to their participation as proof that we weren't going in alone. So they can't completely wash their hands of it.

The U.S. is stuck, I'm afraid. Morally I don't see how we can pull out now and let a full-blown civil war consume Iraq. I don't see a good way out for the U.S.

pulling out prematurely, is one of the biggest blunders the brits will ever make.
if the yankees pull out too, it would mean civil war and misery of the people of iraq and more terrorism and islamization in britain.

the insurgency proves that the iraqi government is not strong enough to hold the country together alone at this time.

armed conflict is a dirty game. you soldiers know this but obviously you do not.

largely by fault of public opinion and politics, the brits and yankees failed the iraqis once (after the golf war); will they fail the iraqis again?

I'm British and my husband is being deployed to Basra in May for 7 months so as far as I am concerned then the sooner the lads are sent home, the better. We don't want any more coming home in boxes.

UK. Union call - one out, all out. I'm all for the withdrawal, but from the moral point of view, we can't pull out and leave American troops there - it isn't their fault their President is a war-mongering A-hole.

As it isn't our troops' fault that Blair is Bush's poodle. When they are both out of their respective offices, I'm sure they'll be very happy together.....

Unfortunately, Dubyah has another 20 months (give a few days) before he has to go. Can you say "Impeach"?

get our boys home now. i wonder if Blair ever considers the cost in lives (and all the injured). he should hang his head in shame. this will be his legacy no matter how much he postures about bringing the lads home, if he can be believed. from Scotland
