If you want to give your hamster different foods that's terrific! Variety is the spice of life and with hamsters, the sky's the limit. Anything that's healthy for you is healthy for your hamster. Get in the habit of saving a bite of your healthy meals and sharing it with your hamster. Just be sure to remove any uneaten portions after a few hours so they don't spoil. You'll soon learn that your hamster has food preferences when you start offering him a variety.

Here are a few suggestions that my hamsters love (I am a show breeder and have well over 100): spinach, cucumbers, apples, carrots, grapes, scrambled eggs, brussel sprouts, uncooked oatmeal, etc.. I will give them leftover pasta, pancakes, rice, cornbread, anything!

One fun thing I give them is peanut butter and/or honey smeared in the bottom of a baby food jar. You should see them cram themselves in there to lick out every bit of it. They get a bit messy but that's the part that it even cuter to me.
