work on your agility more by doing stairs many times and jump rope trust me it works 6.1 seconds? maybe you should look on line on some websites that help you run your fullest potential fourty time because if you start off bad on a fourty time it will increase your time.

First let me say Holy Crap! You're very strong. Best way to work on speed is improve you're flexability and sprints sprints sprints. Also if you're serious about playing in college you may conside finding a trainer to improve technique on your 40. You would not believe the little things you can do to shave off a tenth or 2 of a second. You may want to slim down just a bit for now. Your goal should be to get your 40 down to like 5.3 if you do that you could play D1. Flexability is very very important though it is something that is very often overlooked, not only will it make you faster and more athletic but it will help eliminate injuries. Good Luck!
P.S. If you decide to play DL speed and endurance will be more important . If you want a hell of a workout here's something the Navy SEALS do, 1 mile warm up then 5 400's as fast as you can, it's very hard but will get you in great shape.

well for OL and DL speed really isn't needed i guess it helps alot but you don't need it I play DL as a Defensive End...What you should do is work on quick starts that's my problem the thing you should do is have someone or something count off for you and work on going when they say "GO" the next thing is to work your speed by just running around 100 yards as fast as you can take a 30 second break and go again without persistence then you will never make progress you will eventually get to around 5.5 and then you are in great condition you might need a specialized person in This field they can be very expensive so all you really need to do is call them and just ask it might be good if you hire one i know your in the 10th grade but if you do hire a person who specializes in this you will get faster...

The first think i have to say is you need to work on your bench press before worrying about your speed. I am almost 100 lbs lighter than you and can bench more if you want to play D-line for D-1 someday you'll need to get stronger but as for speed don't worry so much about your 40 time.....if i were you i would run with a sled on my back and do quick bursts with it you need to improve quickness not speed to play DL and unless you get alot stronger your pretty short to play O-line for D-1 most of those guys are about 6'4" to 6'6"

Actually for your size you have a pretty decent 40. Your 40 isnt going to matter as much on the line as much as your explosiveness. Instead of trying to get a better forty, just try to get a good jump on it and just sprint. What you should be working on, is learning the blocking schemes for O line, but if you want real fun play D line. Work on going from your 3 point stance to plugging up the middle (I assume you are a DT).

OMG! Are you pretty chunky or is that alot of muscle?!! That's big for an NFL player who's 6'2".

I'm not super-athelete, but from what I've observed, very few guys who are that big at that height are very fast (John Randle is an exception that comes to mind). My most basic piece of advice is to loose some weight (at HS level you can stand to loose some and still be bigger/more powerful than alot of guys out there).

Lose weight. I know that sounds dumb, especially for a lineman, but less bulk will help you move a bit faster. The out it back on in leaner muscle mass, and maybe you'll shave off half a sec. or so.

find drills to make your legs more agile.or you can find a hill with a gradual down slope and run wind sprints.if you cant atleast bench your weight you probably need to drop some weight.that should help.
