It's different for everyone, your family doesn't necessarily have a ton to do with it, but I was pretty close to my mom's age when I first got mine. Also body type can have some influence.

Not necessarily, only Mother Nature can answer this? You see every female has different hormonal balance and depending on is what it is will identify when you start. Not being hereditary that's irrelevant. (old wives tail) Your period is in which the your body makes a revolution from girl to woman and take my word for it, not a pleasant one, which you"ll have for 40 yrs. or more. This of
pains, bloating, unpredictably, aching back, sore tummy, etc. is this beginning to sound like something you want to rush? Thought not! Enjoy the freedom you have now because a period
also sometimes comes with complications now & then. Please don't fear it will come all in good time. ok?
All the Best,
Summer

You know it all depends on your personal body chemistry. When your mother started is a good indication when you will start but it is not always the case. The important thing is that you are aware of what will happen and that always makes it easier. good luck kid
P.S. enjoy not having your period right now, because when it starts it doesn't go away.

This isn't something that's hereditary. Each individual woman starts at different times. You could be 11 and you could be 16. There's really no way of knowing.
