I don't particularly trust the current Iranian regime, but why not just listen? What would it hurt?

Maybe it is because Bush & Cheney, Inc. are lousy listeners.Maybe they hope all their tough talk will make Iran concede. Perhaps he3 hopes the iranian people will rise up against the Mullahs when their economic situation gets bad enough. Or maybe he is simply looking for an excuse to bomb them with the blessing of the American people. I don't know.

While I agree it would not hurt to at least talk with each other, I doubt it will happen until other countries in the region have a place at the table, like what happened with North Korea. And that likely won't happen intil the UN says enough is enough.

And I don't trust either side.

GW Bush is mentally ill.
He is a textbook antisocial narcissist - he is never wrong, he can never admit a mistake, he can never apologize. He will listen to advisors who tell him something with 100% unanimous certainty, then he goes and does something completely different because "God told me to."
With antisocial personalities, "it's my way or the highway." They are incapable of compassion or collaboration, both of which they see as signs of weakness. This is often a symptom of someone who has a very small penis.
What you are talking about is called diplomacy and statesmanship, concepts and practices that are thousands of years old and effective for good reason - they work. Only a complete moron would refuse to use them toward reaching mutually acceptable outcomes instead of war.

The blogbaba doesn't trust either regime and they don't trust each other. I mean who can blame either side, both are bloodthirsty murders hell bent on world domination. I truly feel pity for the citizens of both the U.S. and Iran, because they will do the dying for the egos and greed of madmen.

Ahmadinejad is a liar many times over. Bush better not go into verbal communications with him. There is absolutely nothing to discuss between the two, man to man nor leader to leader.
