Evanescence singer Amy Lee surprisingly came to the defense of Britney Spears after a fan named 'Strat' posted a YouTube video making fun of the troubled pop star using one of Evanescence's songs. "OK, hold on a second. I have to post that I in NO WAY am going to endorse any kind of Britney bashing after everything she's been through," Lee wrote at the EvClub forums. "I can't control what people put on YouTube or anywhere else on the internet, but I would NEVER want my picture or our music connected to something that's based on getting enjoyment out of someone's pain. I know what it's like to feel manipulated, used and helpless - so do most of you, that's why you're here - and by now I know what it's like to feel like your entire life is open to the world for judgement. I don't read tabloids and I don't care about celebrity, but it is impossible to escape the whole world just loving to watch her suffer. Remember that this is a human being we're talking about - and who wants to be like those horrible people that have hurt you to feel better about themselves? 'Everybody's Fool' is about the fact that the whole celebrity thing is fake and empty. I think Britney Spears is more aware of that now than anyone. I'm not trying to burn you at the stake, Strat, but it would mean alot to me if you'd take your clip down. Love, Amy. P.S.- tabloids are dumb. don't buy them."

actually I think she is right. I don't really like Britney Spears, but she is a human and has feelings. She does things that aren't appropriate, but people make mistakes, all of us do, ours just aren't public b/c we aren't celebrites. I know if my failures were for everyone to see I would want to crawl under a rock and not get out, but people forget and it gets easier. But w/ hers being public it makes it seem worse. Don't judge, or you will be judged as I have always heard.

I find it difficult to feel sympathy for a person who spent her entire career practically begging for a photo op and, now that her life isn't what she wants it to be, is all upset and shocked at the media frenzy. She knew when she started courting the paps that they don't go away, and now she's regretting it because she is not in control of what they're showing.
She may be in pain, and that's too bad, but she's being a lousy parent. Any non-famous person doing what she's doing would have Children and Family Services breathing down their necks. Giving your kids to family to take care of while you party is not being a responsible parent. This girl needs help and hasn't hit bottom yet. She won't seek the help she needs until she does hit that bottom.

sounds wonderful! she isnt one of those child stars that was a mega star and then disappeared. she still is a star. she still gets stalked, papparazzi, hassled, and screamed at from fans all over. she's in a catagory that one other was in. meaning from child star to adult star, with every eye watching. and that is michael jackson.(dont tell me his disorders and legal probs. have nothing to do with his childhood, or lack of) let's pray her family can get her the right help.
