i thought it was pretty good actually but i didn't like how the husband and the mother & daughter got stuck in different dimensions.

A lot of people hated it because they didn't understand it at all. Which it is a very ignorant thing to do but whatever. What you have to do with Silent Hill is like the person above me said keep an open mind. It's a psychological horror movie. That's where you should draw the line. Also watch it once. Than use good ole' wikipedia and read their explanation of the movie so get the whole perspective and understanding of it. Then watch it again after you know all the goodies. If you keep an open mind, you'll see that it is a very satisfying movie.

most people are disappointed with game-based movies, because they have high hopes that it will be exactly like the game...any movie based on a book or game is: BASED ON, not COPIED.
watch the movie with a grain of salt, expect new things, different things, watch it for what it is: a movie, and not a game-translated CGI sequence movie.
Resident Evil...action movie.
Silent Hill...horror-action movie
Mortal Kombat...action movie
and so on...yes I liked the game and the movie of Silent Hill.

no i thought it was terrible. i forced myself to watch it a second time as i fell asleep the first time. i wish i had that time back.
