I have recently been having "pop ups" from the "security Center" saying that my computer is at rick and I have viruses and malware... whatever.... I believe this in itself is a virus. At first, it took over my homepage... then I downloaded some software to get rid of it, which this was mainly a firewall that kept it from getting to my IE.
NOW I have a little yellow shield that will pop up saying that I have viruses and I also have the pop ups that direct me to websites like pestcapture and ad heal. Anyone heard of this and how do I get rid of it?
I have run system mechanic, AVG, Zone alarm anti virus... and they have found some malicious software and got rid of it, but obviously not all of it!!!

I wanted to add that the little yellow shield pops up in the taskbar by the clock.

I'm not sure what kind of yellow shield you're referring to but windows updates has one as well...are you sure that's not what keeps popping up???

If you are, perhaps you should try another antivirus program as well a spyware/malware/adaware program.

Instead of listing programs to get, please check out our website, http://4einc.info and click on the tools button.
Check out Avast (great antivirus ... we switched to that from McAfee), adaware, and spyware terminator. This page is all free stuff that we use on our personal computers and programs that we use for our website.

Hope this helps.

If you're having a taskbar issue, a recent virus/threat is known as TrustyHound. Try out this site for more info: http://411-spyware.com/remove-trustyhound

You have an adware infection and a homepage hijacker. The are both installed by a Smitfraud Trojan. Here are two sites that have free programs and procedures to remove Smitfrauds.

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from CA.
