Wow. Only one. I have two: tocophobia and agoraphobia. Well that last one--not precisely. I'm just afraid of being alone, not in a way that I always have to be with someone. At times, I crave solitude! I am disabled and have to be in someone else's care. Right now, it's my father. He'll die before I do. I would never go into a nursing home, willingly. The patients are treated like miserable creatures. Plus I would be trapped. I think that's another fear of mine. Being trapped with no way out.
There are several reasons for my tocophobia (fear of childbirth). Anyone who's been educated in it knows that it's not such a blessing, as some women choose to believe. But besides the horrible physical pain, there's also the change that I will go insane. I'm afraid of losing my mind--well, what's left of it.
I can't kind of relate to Brand New Brooklynite.

I used to be scared of heights but I've been working on that. I think my biggest fear is losing the people I love. Especially my children. I don't fear death but I fear being left alive with everyone else that I love gone.

Fear is written in our DNA. A direct result of natural selection. All fear stems from our basic fear of the unknown. Without it, the species would not survive.

I am petrified of spiders...It's so bad I go into panic attacks and cold sweats. After I see one I feel like they are cawling all over me!! Also I am afraid of being outside alone in the dark. If i'm with people i'm fine just being alone in the dark is a scary place for me to be :(

wost fear for me is bridges I'm a wreck going over them and if I'm the one driving i tend to grip the wheel very tightly and sqink my eyes and shake all over one day I'm going to end up crashing while on the bridge

anything associated with pain..a stabbing, for example if the pain will be felt for long periods of time, but getting my brains blown out by a shotgun doesn't scare me cus i won't have time to feel it.

Many things scare me. Being beat up, going to jail, being in pain, being handcuffed, being raped, pregnant, my man leaving me, getting sued, becoming homeless again, being mentally hospitalized again, being misused & abused, being taken advantage of, death, discovering that my health is in danger, suffering.

The fact that everything and everyone is going to die at some time or another, you just never know when and that is scary to me.
