I'm kind of new to beading, but so far I've noticed there's flexible beading wire (Beadalon) and tiger tail, they look almost identical. So are they the same?

I believe that Beadalon is a manufacturer (they make SoftFlex, SoftTouch, etc., I think).
Other non-stretchy, plastic-covered wire or wires sold as necklace cording are Accu-Flex and Acculon, etc.

Tigertail is a less expensive, very strong and somewhat stiff, plastic-covered-wire cording ... comes in several thicknesses?

The stiffer cords are more suitable for certain types of beads and for a certain type of drape (not much), where the softer ones are better for lots of drapability and less heavy or abrasive beads, for example.

Both are brand names for the multi-strand flexible beading wire you're describing. They are not idenitcal however, the differences being in materials and number of strands, but they are interchangeable.
