Walt Disney World never had Rocket Rods, Disneyland in CA did though however. The ride closed for a refurbishment in 2000 and just never reopened. The ride closed for a few reasons, the biggest one probably being that the constant speed changes caused the computers to overload and that would shut down the ride, this had become an everyday problem.

Are you referring to Rocket Rods in Disneyland? I don't ever recall it being in Disney World. Rocket Rods was only open from 1998 until 2000 and is now Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blaster.

I believe they were considering changing the Tomorrowland Transit Authority ride into Rocket Rods in Disney World, if it was succesful in Disneyland. But I don't think it was as popular as they had hoped.

Have a great time!
