My friend says that he doesn’t see anything wrong or bad or anything negative about Communism and that it’s no worse than democracy. In fact he says he wouldn’t mind living in a Communist country. And I relised that I can’t think of anything to prove him wrong.

Communism is gay!
Under the communist revolution 100,000,000 people died. and in wars 40,000,000 people died. there was 4 wars caused because of it.

And under it there is no ownership, no matter what you get, your land and money and even you belong to the communist party.

If you talk bad of the communist party you will be arrested and jailed and maybe even killed.

Religious persecution occurs, the Chinese will detain anyone who publicly preaches of god. they even execute them.

There is no upward mobility, you will always be subjected to wealth redistribution.

is that enough?

I gave you a star because you are a smart person and know good things!

There's an old saying about Communism and Democracy: If they were perfected and operating, the masses wouldn't know the difference. However, there is a big difference and you should share this with your friend.

Neither Democracy or Communism are even close to perfect. The benefit of living under a Democratic government includes an American citizens rights under the constitution. Some may argue but yes, we do have rights. These rights, when violated can be argued in court with judgment being made in a relatively fair environment. The same is not true for Communism plus, there are a host of; government policy taking business profit in the name of politics. It's not something you can argue about with your tax lawyer.

I think your friend should move to Communist China and attempt to have a wife and three kids or maybe just demonstrate against something. Then he should try to call you in a year or so! I'm not sure they have phones in the northern most Chinese / Mongolian border, but he should try.

In practice, Communism always turns into a dictatorship.

Somebody has to be in charge of splitting all of the resources of the country evenly among every single citizen. This never works because invariably, those govt. officials slice themselves a little thicker piece of the pie than you get.

Also, if you're going to get the same things as everyone else, why work hard? Why work at all. Just sit back and wait for a paycheck. If you're friend likes that maybe he would like a communists country. One where everyone is placed at the Lowest common denominator.

That doesn't do much for a country's output, but hey that's one of the reasons that communism is a failed experiment....

I don't like the idea of opposing communism and democracy. Communism should be achieved trough democracy or should not be.

Yes communism is a very pretty way to build a society, but it can't truly exist unless a vast majority of the community agrees with it other wise it turns in to tyranny, for it requires a large quantum of violence to apply.

So no communism without democracy

Nowadays, the term "communist" is too varied to put a decent answer to this. China is "communist" but so is North Korea. Countries like Iran has elections.

Certainly there is a difference living in North Korea vs China.

yes communism do sound great as an idea..but it is a bit different in practice.truth is that communism actually was never really developed even in the countries they call themselves communistic that idea was regularly abused and turned into dictate.however communism is possible to accomplish but only in highly developed countries -economically and more important with high consciousness of it citizens.at least that is what theory says but it sounds like utopia don`t u think?

It's easy to relax in a place where there's water and say, "I don't see anything wrong with living in the desert."
You friend is making an uneducated judgment.

Mention the fact to your friend that Stalin killed 40 million Russian in the communist purge of Russia. In order to make Russia a communist state he executed everyone who had a college education or served in any government post, even postmasters were killed.
