My yellow, white, and red cable to my nintendo 64 i think are broken and i dont know where to find a new cable for less than ten dollars or where to find a new nintendo 64 period.

Ok heres what happens,
I plug in my cords and my nintendo 64 put in the game (zelda ocarina of time,my fav!) and system on well when i turn the system on the game does'nt show up on the screen. So i tried messing around with the YWR (yellow white and red) cable and the game shows up and stuff but theres no sound.

So here are my questions:
1.Where can i find a new nintendo 64 or a new YWR cable? and how much would it cost?

2.Should i just buy a madcats monster cable for the nin.64?

3.How much money does a new YWR cable and monster cable usually cost?

red and white are sound [audio] and yellow is sight [video]

you need to have yellow cord in yellow female port, white in white, red in red.

it's possible that a wire has gone bad over time, bending, moisture, many causes

if it's broken, you can get them on auction sites like ebay, they're called "AV cables". here, i'll find one for you - [http://video-games.search.ebay.com/rf_Adapters-Cables_W0QQa14Z24216QQa51Z24251QQa6Z24239QQalistZa51Q2ca6Q2ca14QQcatrefZC6QQcoactionZcompareQQcoentrypageZsearchQQcopagenumZ1QQcurcatZtrueQQfgtpZQQfposZQ5AIPQ2fPostalQQfromZR2QQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQgcsZ1132QQlopgZQQpfidZ1411QQpfmodeZ2QQreqtypeZ2QQsacatZ21200QQsadisZ200QQsaprchiZQQsaprcloZQQsargnZQ2d1QQsaslcZ2QQsatitleZQ2drfQQsbrftogZ1QQsofocusZbs ]

The cables aren't broken. There are different ports in back of your TV, in most tvs there are two sets of the 3 colors, so you kind of have to fool around to find the ones that are right for your system.

By the way...unless you are trying to set up a new contraption...N64 does not have YWR cords to it. I know because I currently own one and none of the cables have changed over the 10 years this system has been out. There's the RF switch which plugs into your TV's cable port/hookup (It looks like a small square with a ridged line going across the top, this goes in back of your system) and then theres the power plug which is the larger, rectangular shaped box that plugs into the back of your system itself. For your RF switch (if you don't have one, try a comic book store that also has systems, Ebay, EBGames or GameStop) it has a little switch on the side that says 3 and 4, these are for what channel it'll play on your tv. So if you have it switched on 3 have the TV on 3, and 4 for 4.

Also...this RF switch can be used for SNES if you have that.

I used to play Ocarina of Time. I loved it until I got to a room with two walls closing in on me and little hands running around...couldn't figure out what to do after that so I got frustrated and sold it. :-( And I had 2 or 3 Bosses left to beat.

If you want a whole nother 64 ebay would be easy. Or a video game store that buys/sells. I don't know where you can find a new one anymore. I dont like the universal cables for gaming systems. They don't seem to work 100% for me. Try the nintendo website. I dont know if they still sell new 64's but i think they sell accessories.

Another option is gamecube. Newer system you can get for real cheap now. And they have the collectors disc for zelda. It has original zelda, link to the past, ocarina and majoras mask. Or the wii. More expensive but much better. And they have retro downloadable games, including zeldas.

At EBgames and Gamestop i saw a N64 for 30 buck with a Dino Crisis game, used of course but they claimed they were in perfect shape, barely used.See if a store near you has some good deals.Otherwise, you'll probably need to use Ebay.I have multiple wires i can give you,but i have no way of sending them to you.

If you have them, you can use the same cables from a SNES or Gamecube I think. The adapter that connects directly to the system is the same.

well if there is no sound that means one of the color cables are damaged on the YWR cable (one of them is audio but i forgot which one)

im ont sure where u can buy another one except maybe ebay ot go into a pawn shop.

but try the cable again

I would recomend Amazon.com (follow my link) The good thing about just buying the entire system is if the console part brakes, you already have a new one!

I suggest you get a Wii and buy N64 games for it. you won't have to go searching for games on amazon or anything! Look for more info on the Wii website.
