RLP I am visualizing your Volkswagen van (white) with a dash board statue of John Kerry and Dixie Chicks blasting out of your Bose sound system. On the bumper you have a walking Darwin fish and a big fat one rolled up in the visor. Nag Champa is burning and a disco ball is floating over your bed where you enjoy peaceful nights sleep. Peace

I usually sleep on my side next to my WIFE (contrary to your stereotypes of Liberals, I am legally married by a minister to a WOMAN). We both work and don't receive welfare. I sleep very well at night, thank you for asking.
I am not ashamed of America, I am ashamed at its leadership. That is my right just as it is yours, John Kerry's, and the Dixie Chicks'. The Government is supposed to serve the people and when I am not satisfied, I will express my displeasure at the service. I do the same thing when I am in a restaurant or any other venue where I am not satisfied with the service. This is not a communist nation where we have to live in fear of being taken out in the backyard and shot for having a contrasting point of view. If our opinions weren't welcomed, why do they have letters to the editor and editorials? Why are we allowed the right to peaceful demonstration? Why do our elected representatives encourage correspondence??? I'll bet none of these things existed in Nazi Germany.
I think America is a great nation. I just don't agree with our current leadership. I feel that Bush is serving himself and his cronies in this war. We spend too much time playing world policeman that we are neglecting the problems that exist in this country. If Bush ever went out and saw the Washington DC that exists beyond the monuments, he would see these problems (homelessness, crime, etc). I feel that if we are going to impose our way of life on other nations that our own backyard should be **** and span first. The new government is in place in Iraq so now we should withdraw. It is like teaching a kid to ride a two wheeler. There comes a time when you have to let go and let the kid absorb some bumps and bruises. I think it time for the US to let go.
I do disagree with Kerry's remarks about the troops. I served in the Navy and I met many smart people. In fact, through Navy College, I earned my Bachelor's Degree in English.

I sleep very well at night. You know I don't understand why people are insisting that because someone disagrees with this countries policies that you are ashamed, I am not ashamed of this country, I am ashamed at the people who are suppose to represent the people of this country, not just those who are willing to following like sheep to the slaughter, whatever lies and misrepresentations that the government wants or a President wants you to believe. My question would be, How can you sleep at night and support a man's agenda which is NOT in the best interests of the average American Citizen?

I sleep fine. With all do respect, I do not bash my country. I criticize the actions of those in power. If they start infringing on the rights of the Constitution, I will criticize them for trying to take away the very rights this country was founded upon. Everybody does it even conservatives. They criticize and bash liberal Presidents and liberal politicians. How many conservatives bash Pelosi and both Clintons? They do the same thing to laws they think is unfair. Does this make conservatives ashamed of their country, just like the liberals? No, it makes them American. They are exercising their First Amendment rights.

It is difficult for me to deal with the direction this country is going in. I was very involved in politics since I was a child. My political involvement really tapered out after Bush became president. I'm only now getting back into it. I'm still pretty young and I may very well end up switching citizenships. I've been seriously involved with someone, and we have talked about marriage (though we both agree it's still much too soon). He's here as a permanent resident, but has held onto his original citizenship. If we do get married, we'll have to decide what citizenships we'll be wanting, and where we'll wan to live. If things continue in the same manner, I might just be frightened into leaving. However, I really don't think it's fair for you to say that WE should have to leave. just because we don't agree with the current administration. I was born here and my family has been here since 1800. My Native American side of the family has been here even longer, of course. I have as much of a right to this land and this country as you do. It's not a matter of "love it or leave it." If I do decide to stay, it will be because I want to help return this country to the decent nation I know it can be.

I actually have a tendency to think of liberally, my daddy and uncle our the two squaddies interior the midsection East at present, i like the dixie chicks and that i think of that individuals could be conceited and grasping yet they could additionally be loving, worrying and beneficiant. i do no longer trust what are politicians are doing a great variety of the time - Dem or Rep. it is not correct. and that i think of that we've dealt with the warfare in Iraq poorly yet i would be damned if i'll take a seat down quietly and ever enable somebody talk negatively approximately our troops! I sleep basically superb interior the rustic my family individuals is struggling with to guard - i could no longer like how that's administered, yet i'm nevertheless proud to call myself American!!

I sleep fine at night because I know I am not complicit in the actions of this country.
All of my actions and expressions have been completely against Bush and his ignorant, greedy, arrogant minions.(including the asker, apparently)
Everything that I do that could be considered encouraging to our imperialistic colonialist actions around the world I do because I am coerced to do them. (i.e. pay federal income tax)
What I do wonder is how Republicans and/or Bush voters sleep at night knowing that every day hundreds civilians die in Iraq due to actions that they are loudly cheering? Many more than would be dying if Saddam Hussein was in power.
I think I know though. Every Bush voter I know has either one of two traits, often both.
1. A sociopathic lack of empathy
2. A sociopathic lack of knowledge
And often they are proud of these two things.
To illustrate, people such as this asker find talk about the Dixie Chicks and John Kerry much more interesting than any talk about people who are actually suffering as a result of their political actions and desires.
Further, they use the word 'bashing' instead of the appropriate word, 'criticizing'. Bashing is only appropriate when criticism is correct and effective. It is correctly used in the phrase 'gay-bashing' because bigoted gay criticisms do successfully appeal to un-empathetic, ignorant people. In this case, however, our 'bashing' appeals to reason, not prejudice.
The asker's choice of words implies her worst fears, that our criticisms are obviously correct.
But I do not expect her to understand this, she reads and writes at the seventh grade level.
Next time why don't you ask how Republican voters think they have ANY REMAINING CREDIBILITY when they were absolutely wrong about everything that had to do with Iraq.

Is it OK to hold the President of this country in utter contempt when he shows a complete lack of honor?
If a man's lies cause the deaths of thousands of our great nations finest young men,and women, and he shows an increasingly arrogant lack of remorse. Then that man has no honor, and a man without honor deserves no respect.
Regardless of what position his daddy bought for him.
Semper fi mother fu(kers.
How do you sleep covered with little round bruises from people touching you with ten foot poles?
Have you always been like this or just since that girl dropped that house on your sister outside of Kansas?

It's hard sometimes to sleep when you know that Bush's stupidity could start WW3 at any time. Here we have a man without a plan. He just wants to keep his foot hold in Iraq long enough so he can fabricate a good B.S. story to invade Iran with.
Fact is..President Bush is nothing but a drunken deserter that went AWOL.
Here honey check this out... http://www.awolbush.com/
and if that link doesn't work just google...Bush AWOL
Oh...and I love America...I just don't like the way Bush went about blowing up the WTC.

We aren't ashamed of America, we are ashamed of Bush and Cheney stealing tax dollars earmarked for our troops with corporate rabbit holes like Haliburton.
We sleep fine, and the Dixie Chicks simply stated the opinion of the majority of the people in the United States.
John Kerry was referring to the status George Bush is going to leave the United States in on the world stage. In case you haven't noticed most of Europe thinks Iran and Syria have the moral high ground and Bush and Cheney are almost Nazi like in their aggression.
