The Saudi government is a close ally of the US. Their are no proven ties with the Royal family and any terrorist organization. With that said, we CONS fully understand that Saudi families do fund and support terrorists however they are a lesser evil than the Iranian Government backed sponsership.
You LIBS need to understand that they world is not painted in black and white. It is necessary in international diplomacy sometimes to choose the lesser of two evils. Do you want us to go to war with Saudi, no you don't, so what is your point. The Saudi government allows us to have a military presence in their country so we can support our operations in the middle east, they are a trade partner. Iran is neither of these.
In times of dissension the old axiom "my enemy's enemy is my friend" often is followed. The Saudi government has supported our efforts to rid the region of radicals and dictators, so for now their are our friend.
I agree the Bush family is way too "in bed" with the Saudi's but so are the Clintons and so are the Kennedys. I also agree that we must as a nation alleviate ourselves from the need for foreign oil, then we can kiss all these lunatics goodbye. That is unfortunately not our reality, you need to live in the moment not in a fantasy world. Your utopia on earth doesn't exist and so we must make the best of what we've got.
Do you think you really have an effect on global politcs. I wish I did but I understand my reality so I support what is best for me and my country. If that means stealing foreign oil, so be it, if that means we have to exteminate some rats so be it. If you let us win this battle then we can deal with the Saudi's.

Because Saudi Arabia demands payment for oil on the international market in dollars. Iran demands payment for oil in Euros.
Now put two and two together. What supports the value of the dollar? A thing called petrodollars. The US currency isn't backed up by gold. It's backed up by petrodollars.
That a fresh look at the middle-east problem and who is allied with whom. You'll see dollars on one side and euros on the other.

I'm sure well aware of it.
Bush doesn't point fingers at the Saudis for one simple reason. We have a military base in Saudi Arabia. We don't have one in Iran.

Cons do understand, but the Saudis are forking over big $$$$ and Iran isn't paying. When Iran starts buying U.S. politicians the tension over their nuclear program will be replaced in the news by another Anna Nicole story.

Saudi arabia is an ally and is trying to clean up the terrorists.
Iran couldn't give a rip and wants to kill us anyway.
Iran has:
-taken over our embassy
-held our diplomats hostage
-counterfeited our currency for decades

We are not UNAWARE of that, but Saudi Arabia hasn't threatened to attack Israel, and the United States, to annihilate us. Iran has. See the difference?
