Does anyone know of a decent 4 or 5 star hotel in Protaras Cyprus?

I posted another similar question for a hotel in Paphos but the Protaras hotel is for my family in school holidays. We want to be near the sea and would welcome any suggestions.

Protaras is excellent for a family holiday, and there are a few decent hotels there. In general the accomodation in Protaras is not of the same standard as say the 4 star hotels in Paphos, Limmasol or Ayia Napa. The 4 stars are mainly Tsokkos hotels which vary enormously in quality. The reason for this is that Tsokkos build hotels, they get 4 star ratings from the CTO and then keep building new ones instead of maintaining what they already have. Be careful- you can make a costly mistake!

The Sunrise is a lovely hotel albeit quite expensive but in my opinion it is a real 4 star hotel.

Tsokkos Polycarpia
Tsokkos Beach
Check carefully:
Tsokkos Gardens
Tsokkos Anastasia
Tsokkos Odessa

The only Tsokkos in Protaras which is really worth considering is The Tsokkos Constantinos. It has a 5 star rating but at best it's a 4 still, if the Sunrise is too expensive then Constantinos isthe best alternative.
Sorry to be so negative, but Tsokkos has so much land in Protaras he practically owns the resort it's just a pity he doesn't maintain the hotels properly.

Have you looked at Ayia Napa instead? I can honestly say that if you stay in Nissi Bay you will have a lovely holiday. The beaches are beautiful and there seems to be a much nicer atmosphere in Ayia Napa- I always find protaras to be kind of soul-less.
Seriously, check out The Adams beach- it is wonderful, as is The Aeneas Beach (there you can get beautiful rooms with jacuzzi and direct pool access) The Olympic Lagoon resort is in a quieter location- near the waterpark and it has family suites in bungalow style accomodation and their pools are lovely for children.

If it were me, I'd go to the Aeneas every time or if you want to be on the beach then The Adams- both are excellent places to stay and I'm sure that if you appreciate quality you will love it
