no. They would laugh at that. The best thing we could do would be to start a price war. To do this, everyone should boycott the two largest oil companies. Exxon Mobil and I'm not really sure whos #2 but I know they are #1. If not enough people are buying Exxon Mobil's gas they would be forced to lower their prices in order to compete with the other gas companies. Maybe just boycotting Exxon Mobil would get it started.

No, I dont think it would really have that much od an impact on them. I have put alot of thought into this question over the past year or so. One day wouldnt even mean anything to them. Especially if you look at it like this:
Everyone has to commute to and from work and go on with their usual activities. If America planned to not buy any gas at all for one day they would just fill up their tanks the day before or something. That means the gas companies would still get the money, even if not that exact day. The country will not stop moving.
It would take a long thought out plan, and maybe a week or a month of us not buying any gas to even make them think about it at all.
Sadly, it would be impossible to get everyone to participate in a plan like that.

No, they wouldn't care the least. They'll just get double sales the next day lol. And Americans "depend" on cars too much, we would never go a whole day without driving. Also, boycotting gas would be like boycotting the supermarket for having high prices. They wouldn't care either, because they know we'll all be back :) And they're right.

It wouldn't make any difference. Gasoline is a commodity with no equivalent substitutes. Many things beyond automobiles require gasoline to function and at this point in time we're just too dependent on this type of fuel. Also, a boycott would only end up hurting the service owner of the station who has no control over the prices the fuel is set.
Please refer to the following links for the whole reasoning behind why a boycott wouldn't work:

yeah I agree. I mean good luck getting enough people to boycott on the same day for anyone to notice, and you're right, we couldn't boycott for long, so yeah probably wouldn't make a damn bit of difference.

Of course, but then they will raise the price of gas to make up for the loss.

Only if we didn't use any fuel for one day. If we keep driving around, we're using the same amount of fuel...if we boycott all fuel consuming vehicles for one day. that might do something.

Boycott would be fun but it would take a small miracle.

No they would probably raise prices the next day just for spite. We travel on wheels, they know we'll be back.

I think they might get nervous. If we all filled up then didnt for a few days..they'd be terrified. Althought It'd be impossible to actually get everyone to do so.
