I'm moving soon and I want to scope out the city ahead of time...I've got 5 DAYS...Where should I go, what should I do? I'm looking to live in the University District, so I'm looking for things around that area as well as tourist-y (yeah, uh-huh, that's a word! :) stuff. Tell me anything. Cheap hotels, breath-taking sites, delicious eats, I'm all ears. Or eyes, 'cause it's a posting! haha. I would like information on romantic things to do as well, because me + my boyfriend + 5-day trip = getaway! I need your help because searching the net like roaming aimlessly in the wild west! RECOMMENDATIONS ARE AWESOME. Oh yeah. I'm on a bugdet, so less is more! Thanks much, XOXO!

Are you going to be a huskie soon? Exciting! Seattle's fantastic.

Okay - ditto the other reviewers. I just wanted to stress Fremont, if you've got an afternoon to kill - that place has got a lot of attitude; very quirky; there are some shrunken heads for sale there (among plenty of much nicer stuff!).

Edmunds is also a really nice walking/shopping area. Totally different atmosphere, nice small town/cozy feel. The ferry docks are out there too if you'd like to check out the peninsula, or just go for a ride :)

For restaraunts - check out Dick's Drive In (a local must!). There are a couple of locations but I think there's one on Wallingford.
Also, for something upscale - Anthony's Homeport on the waterfront. It's middle-expensive and soooooo good - my family used to go there once a month or so. I recommend the alderplank salmon and their sundaes.

The Seattle Zoo, if you're into that, is awesome.

You can rent paddle boats on Green Lake - super fun! Just don't land on the island; there's a naked man living there (seriously). Oh, and Lake Washington does kayaks and canoes too.

Well, have fun! Exciting that you're moving to Seattle - hope you love it!

space needle's a must, if you love music go to EMP, its right by the needle. if you want a tour the ducks of seattle are really fun, and a cruise in the sound is always fun. theres also the aquarium, pikes market, downtown, and the pacific sience center. there are also some pretty inexpensive hotels by the space needle. hope that helps. if you need to know anything else dont be afraid to ask!

The other posters nailed almost everything I was going to say, I would just say you have to visit The Seattle Art Museum and The Museum of Flight..
