Hello there, and well done on choosing Paphos as your holiday destination.
There are many lovely hotels in Paphos, generally the 4 to 5 star hotels are of a good quality.
Of course prices do vary a lot so I'll give you a selection.
One of the least expensive 4 star hotels nar the town is The Aloe. Its a decent hotel, but truthfully, Id say that compared to other 4 star hotels it's more of a good 3 star- albeit, it's location is good and it's worth a look.
Again, if you're on a budget look at The Venus, it's out past the tombs of the kings and officially a 5 star although expect a decent 4 star standard for an exceptionally good price.

If you do have a little more money to spend The Alexander The Great is a 4 star and gets a very good name- especially for it's food. Many people return here every year it is an excellent hotel.
The Athena Royal is aso very nice, but make sure you dn't confuse it with it's sister hotel Athena Beach, The Royal is much nicer.

The Paphos Amathus is also very nice albeit a little expensive but it's nicer than The Annabelle which is in need of refurbishment sadly.

If you really want the wow factor then it just has to be The Elyssium- again out at Tombs of the Kings but it is really very nice indeed.

Paphos is a lovely place for a holiday but quite a big resort so if it's important to be near the town (or certainly within walking distance) then I would reccomend The Alexander or Paphos Amathus. If you don't mind bing a little further out then The Elyssium would get my vote, especialy if you are travelling as a couple without children.

Coral Bay is nice, but it's around 12km from Paphos and aprox a 20 minute taxi ride. there are a few hotels down there but none are any better than the ones above so I wouldn't bother with that if I were you.

Ones to avoid in my opinion would be
Avlida
Theofano
Phaethon
Avanti Holiday Village
Pafian Sun
Pafian Park
Laura Beach
Atlantica Beach

Whatever you decide, I hope you have a lovely holiday

All the best!

Location wise the hotel is in a great spot away from the main tourist area but close enough to some great restaurants and a few nice bars, with the the main tourist strip is approximately a 15 minute walk away. The pool area and gardens are simply fantastic with attentive pool staff assisting to your every need from moving umbrellas to fetching drinks. Service generally within the hotel is very good and what you would expect of a 5 star hotel with the maid often coming again during the evening to freshen up the room while you are out remaking the bed and tidying up the bathroom. Breakfast is lovely with a wide selection of food ranging from fruit to a Full English including a counter cooking eggs and omelettes. Staying half board we only ate dinner in the hotel once on their "Cypriot night" where we enjoyed a buffet style dinner complete with Cypriot dancing. Nice food, but expensive. Rooms are large with huge balconies but are in need of updating. The Amathus markets itself as one of the leading hotels in the world but in my opinion the rooms are more 4 star than 5. Our room faced towards the main road but the hotel is set back far enough so that you don't hear any noise from either the road or the bars near by. I have loaded over 100 high quality photos of the Amathus Beach hotel and the resort of Paphos onto my website blaxiDotCom so you can see the bars and restaurants and view the hotel for yourself. I hope you find this useful. Our flight was very early in the morning so having checked out of our original room by 12.00, the hotel offered us a courtesy room to freshen up in after returning from the pool, and then another courtesy room from 9PM onwards until we were picked up for our flight around 1 AM. Both rooms were sea facing and if I were to stay in the hotel again would probably pay the extra to enjoy the view.
