some people with strong personalities like people who also have a strong personality so they can challenge them. and some of them like submissive people who always let them win and don't stand up to them. i don't know which one your girlfriend is and what kind of a dynamic there is in your relationship but if her strong personality is making the relationship not work then there's a problem.
i'm probably the most strongwilled person i've ever met to the point that it has gotten in a way of my relationships. for me the type of people i get along the best are the ones who can keep me in control but that's just me your girlfriend might be completely different.

I live in a relationship like that right now......we are both strong willed.....what you have to do is make sure that you pick your battles wisely but at the same time forget them quickly also. My boyfriend and I argue on (at least) a weekly basis, but its so easy for us to argue and move on from that argument that it really doesnt affect us. You, and Her, have to figure out when to hold your ground and when to let it go, it the topic is very important to her then let her win the fight, if its important to you she should give in. But I have been with my bf for 6 yrs and we have had to sit down and actually discuss all this on various occassions to be able to stay forcussed on the fact that OUR RELATIONSHIP cant survive through the cattiness so we keep reminding each other "hey its my turn to win" "no you won last time" "this is very important" "ok you win this one" you have to learn to take arguments as what they are, spats of different personalities.

Embrace and celebrate it! You will find your niche with her. I have a strong personality, and so does my hubby. We fought like hell for years, but now we just know what the other one excels at and now we back off to give the other some space.
Having a strong personality can be a good thing. It can come with confidence and drive and a multitude of other qualities..

and find somebody who compliments your personality.
