And why would anyone spend that much money on a bowl?

OK, I understand the price of the curved glass but I still don't get why someone would spend that much when you could spend less for an actual tank where you could have more fish (w/out over crowding) and be actually better for the fish.

Making the glass round like that is hard work so it will naturally cost more money. Personally I would not spend the money on a biorb. The shape makes them unsuitable for keeping a decent stock of fish. Not enough surface or bottom area IMO.

Biorbs cost so much because its more expensive to make curved glass.

I bought a used one on Ebay and it was a great aquarium. Try buying one there.

its looks good? i don't know -- people always seem to think they are the perfect biosphere (marketing lies?) and they are still only small aquariums that need cleaning and treating like any other small aquarium.
