no the antibiotics reduces the effectiveness of the pill , your doctor should have advised you of this before giving you the antibiotics.
As you know no contraception is 100% effective and when usng antibiotics they can prevent your pill from being fully effective.
its recomended that you either
a)refrain fro having sex during the time your are on antbiotics and for 7 days afterwards
b) use anotherform of birth control ie a condom, for the time you are on the antibiotics and for 7days afterwards.

No, the pill is not effective. I got pregnant while taking antibiotics, at the time I didn't know that antibiotics would make the birth control non-effective. Use protection.

You have a 50/50 chance of becoming pregnant when taking an antibiotic and birth control pills. The antibiotic weakens the effects of the birth control pills, therefore leaving you open to becoming pregnant. You should use a backup method, such as a condom. If you feel that you may be pregnant, see an OB/GYN as soon as possible. If pregnant and taking birth control, this could affect the embryo.

No the pill is not effective, you should use extra protection whilst on the course of antibiotics and for 7 days after!
Heather J in my dental practice we have a huge sign warning women of this, antibiotics and the pill do not go hand in hand and many women have fallen pregnant as a result of this.

Some drugs reduce the effect of the Pill and can cause breakthrough bleeding, or increased chance of pregnancy. These include enzyme inducing drugs such as rifampicin, barbiturates, phenytoin and carbamazepine. In addition cautions are given about broad spectrum antibiotics, such as ampicillin and doxycycline, which may cause problems "by impairing the bacterial flora responsible for recycling ethinylestradiol from the large bowel" (BNF 2003).[53]
The traditional medicinal herb St John's Wort has also been implicated due to its upregulation of the P450 system in the liver.

The pill's effectiveness may be compromised by some antibiotics but I am not familiar which ones would do this. Place a call to your pharmacist.
