How do I get a 1850's home....?

Question

A friend of mine has a house and it is going to be wrecked unless I find a way to save it. Who can I call? I have no $ so it would have to be some kind of project. I know there was something on some channel about it but I can't remember. Can anyone refresh my memory? Thanks

There is a National Register of Historic Homes. Check online to see if you can get the house registered. Try a local Historical Society, who might be able to muster local support quicker. Also, there is a lot of good information at the link below.
