New phone is a Binatone MA760.
My internet connection is NOT wireless.

Hmmm that is quite interesting. I looked up your phone and it is DECT so if you have a wireless broadband connection it should not interfere.
How about separating the phone base station and your wireless broadband? Maybe they are too close together and the signal from the phone is swamping out the signal from the broadband.

Your new phone transmits on 2.4GHz just like your wireless connection.
I've got the same problem with my wireless security cameras knocking out my WAN.
