FIRST JOB INTERVIEW - @ AMC! What should i wear?

Hi,

I have an interview with AMC theaters tomorrow and i need to figure out what to wear....I applied for a position there and luckily i've been called for an appointment. My question is, since it's only a minimum wage job and it is a movie theater should i still dress semi-formal or go casual? It's a group interview with other applicants and i don't want to be the only one dressed up but then agian it shows how much i want the job, so i'm confused. any help would be appreciated.

Here's my advice. You should NOT:

…turn up in casual wear

Even if the company interviewing you has an informal culture, showing up in your weekend wear is a no-no. Fail-safe clothes for an interview are the classic jacket suit or simple dress for ladies; and long-sleeved shirt, tie and tailored trousers in conservative colours for men. Select clothes appropriate for the position you are applying for.

…choose the wrong colour or fabric

Keep clothes in neutral colours or discreet prints that don't distract the interviewer. For ladies, keep bra straps hidden from view. Stay away from pure linen, which wrinkles easily, and sheer fabrics that show all.

…go too heavy on scent

When it comes to perfume or cologne, less is better. You don't want to be remembered for your lingering scent after an interview. You can kiss the job goodbye if the interviewer has a sensitive nose and your perfume sets off his allergy.

…paint your face with thick makeups

Stick to the natural look when it comes to makeup. Choose safe colours like peach or beige. If you are not in the habit of wearing any make-up, try a little lip gloss and loose powder to cut down on shine.

…let accessories steal the show

Accessories are meant to jazz up an otherwise mundane outfit. Stay clear of oversized earrings and necklaces that compete with you for your interviewer's attention. Pay attention to your shoes and bags too.

…have hair here, there and everywhere

Unless you are gunning for a job in a hair salon or modelling agency, avoid extreme styles and hair colours. Keep your fringe close to or above the eyebrows, or swept to the side so that the interviewer can see your face.

Wear nice pants and a nice top, sweater, etc.

You want to look responsible enough to show up for work every day, do your job, etc.

However, it is not necissary to go overkill as if you were applying for a career move job. Sometimes overdressing sends the wrong message as well - the could think you think you are "too good" for minimum wage and won't take it seriously.

Wear what people call "business casual"

Well, since it will be warm outside, then I think you should wear gachos, (the big capris that go out), and nice pink tank top, with a white v-neck over it, and then lets say, ballet flats, and yeah. I mean, since it is only a movie theater, and most of them have uniforms, it's not like you need to show that you can dress the best.

As employer that hires kids for minimum wage jobs, DRESS UP. In my eyes, when you show up in casual clothes that tells me you really dont care if you get the job. When you dress up it tells me that you take pride in your appearance, and hopefully also in your work. That you want the job enough to take the time to look nice. This is your chance to make a first impression. Make it a good one.

I just had a job interview yesturday! And I wore a suit and it turned out great! So dress your best! It's always better to over dress than under dress!

I would advise semi-formal. Dressing casual makes you look like you don't care, or like you would slack off on the job. It's better to be safe and dress nicely.

i would wwear a good apropiate outfit to show them that they want you as an employee. if i were you i would go out and but a nice suit and white shirt to put underneath the suit. if it is at the last minute, trow on thw best thing you have thats clean

Dress with no panties show him your stuff ..He might make you manager...just kidding ...wear nice clothes and you will be fine if you get job sure they at least got a T-Shirt you gotta wear
