I have ridden a camel many times. They do smell, but if you can get over that, they are quite fun to ride.

The length of your ride will depend on where you do it. If you go down to the beach and have a camel ride there, it will be over quite fast.

If you take an excursion to the south and rent a camel there, you will have a longer and more satisfying ride. (You can set up these excursions at your hotel.)

Some things to remember:

*These remarkable animals are intelligent and strong, and they possess incredible endurance.

*They can also be quite fast: some camels can briefly attain speeds up to 40 miles per hour (64 km/h).

*Because camels are cud-chewing animals (they are constantly chewing), their reins are usually attached to a peg inserted into the nose, as opposed to being attached to a bit in the mouth, as is the case with horses. Thus, unlike with a horse, you can’t try to steer a camel by pulling on the reins.

*Camels are quieter and gentler than horses.

*Riding a camel is quiet and peaceful. Camel's slipper-like feet make hardly any noise. Without the clip-clop of hooves, you can hear the sounds of nature.

Have fun and enjoy!

Good morning,
I deed several times in the southern part of Tunisia on the sand dunes in Douz Sabria, that was really a good experience.
If you are not planing to go on one of the excursion to the south, you can experience a camel ride near by your hotel.Just ask the reception they will tell you where to go for the camel ride or a horse ride as well.
Have a nice ride, and keep good memories.

The joke about camel rides is that it $2 to get on the camel and $20 to get off the camel.

I have ridden a camel. It's kind of fun. It's worth it for the picture.
