ethernet is a network technology. If you have a broadband modem, you're likely connecting it via an ethernet connection on your network interface card. Keep in mind that the "ethernet" is the connection from the modem to the computer and not the modem to the internet.

u havent heard about it... Ethernet is the common cable that attaches ur PC to the internet via RJ45 plugs. if i were to guess, ethernet is at least 15-20 years old. There are other types such as T-Base10, and now Optical (the name eludes me) but ethernet is by far the more dominant

The cable you use to connect your computer to your cable modem is an "ethernet" cable.
