I am a socialist, first of all.

I find that some capitalists are quite disgusting in their pursuement of profit. I think that they should learn to give a damn about their fellow humans.

Times might be good for only a couple of them, but it sure ain't good for the millions left hungry, unemployed, or unable to provide for themselves or their families.

What makes you think "Capitalist" is the only one denying workers above subsistence pay, ignoring price index. I don't see the North Koreans being happy with their pay scales. Most of Eastern Europe seems to have had below market pay prior to the fall of Communism. Interviews I did in the Czech Republic in 2004 seemed to point to the laborers being happier with their wages now, just not with having to work a full shift. They also were a little scared of being able to lose a job.

Capitalism is based upon the principal that long term the work will move to the best work for the best price and that better work and better products will be rewarded with better profits/income. This extends out to lowest skilled labor moving to the cheapest area. Ireland is a wonderful example of a population moving up the chain of work do to hard work and education.

The worst wage is still better than no wage.

Depends on if the capital gains are based on something real (selling a business you built from one small store to a chain) or if they are based on figments (speculation in real estate, oil, or the stock markets as just a few examples - think Enron). I don't think the capitalist deserves everything and the worker nothing, or next to nothing. I don't think the capitalist has a right to squawk when someone suggests a tax break for the worker. I don't think the capitalist has a right to pollute my air and water fto maximize his/her profit and complain about environmental regulations. Having a huge income disparity is really bad for democracies - when you have a few with a lot and a lot with a little, resentments breed on both sides that ultimately damage the 1 man, 1 vote idea. As far as risk goes, as mentioned above, I would agree with you. Unfortunately, the capitalists don't accept the consequences of their risks in America today -they expect the workers to bail them out of bad investments.

Businesses are suppose to make a profit. They are the ones taking a risk. They don't hire people out of the "goodness of their hearts."

Many business owners have worked HARD to build a business. They didn't inherit anything No lotto winnings. JUST HARD WORK - a college degree may be part of the hard work, dude!

If you think business owners are so horrible, who hires you and pays you? A business owner.

Sorry but there are LOTS of minimum wage flunkies that aren't worth what they are paid. I'm not saying don't pay them min. wage but they should work for what they earn, not just show up.

I worked hard , spent 6 years of earning low wages in the Navy because I believe in what our country stands for, completed a college degree , partly at night & while on a US Navy ship deployed. I saved & started my own business, so I guess I am a "Capitalist" by your definition & labeling system, so am I now a BAD GUY ??

The four people I employ are paid a competitive wage for what they do. I pay for additional schooling opportunities if they desire to pursue them. If the work or the wages are offensive , they always have the right to seek other employment or discuss w me , why they are worth more pay.

Most of the time more pay has to include more production or responsibility on their part. Just being there doesn't equate to big raises. If I stop making a profit the business closes, & four people (five including me,, as I also earn my wages from the business) are now unemployed. Hopefully we can all count on the government to provide for us & our families now....& who pays for that?

If one job doesn't cut it, get a second job ! Learn more & you'll earn more. Why should I pay my employees what YOU & the government think is right??

The fact that someone has a family to support is THEIR responsibility. I didn't have children until I was 30 years old for one simple reason.....I knew I couldn't reasonably support them until I had a job w income to provide for extra needs.

Late edit for Handerand....Agreed the rich pay more taxes...but exactly whay are the extra benefits they receive (as you stated)? My best friend spent an extra 10 years of his life studying to be a physician, making basically nothing during those years. He paid for all of it himself & has repaid the student loans from current wages.

He now earns just over $330k per year , I suppose that makes him rich in your mind....How did he achive this on the backs of the poor? He chooses to send his kids to private school, but still pays for public schools out of his taxes, & is happy to do so. WHAT extra benefit is he receiving by paying over $120 K per year in taxes?? Please enlighten me....or at least send me to read some blog written by an individual too unmotivated to work & achieve, so they complain.

Stop reading socialist propaganda. Capitalist don't think they should pay workers subsistence level pay. Capitalist pay market wages, workers improve their skills to get higher wages.

Capitalism works, socialism doesn't.

Socialist talk about "caring for other humans"...great I am a human when are you socialist going to start sending me free stuff?

The "worker's" can improve their situation by:

-College educations
-Starting their own business
-Investing their money instead of blowing it
-Working hard and moving up the ladder

Not a rich man out there that didn't make thier money on the backs of the poor. That's why the rich get to pay more taxes. They do, after all get more benefits.

Capitialism also includes making a profit for your business. McDonalds was not intended to be a career job.
