I don't know about Judas Priest but for favorite Metal band I'd have to say:

Well, Judas priest has some albums that are metal, especially Painkiller. However, earlier stuff is more hard-rock than metal.
My favourite bands are: Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Dream Evil, Edguy, Sonata Arctica, Sabaton, Gamma Ray, Rhapsody, Falconer, Freedom Call, Iron Maiden, Nocturnal Rites, Turisas, Elend, Decoryah,Tiamat....
migrantworker: with all due respect, ac/dc and JP are mostly hard rock. Metal, REAL metal, starts from the Iron maiden-style hardness on.

they are more metalcore but they have enough metal influence in them to count. besides, who doesn't love a good breakdown?
judas priest is indeed metal.
true metal.
usually when people say metal they lump all forms of metal together but metal in its purity is bands such as ac/dc and judas priest.

they most definitly are. however i'm more into the really extreme heavy **** so my favorite is a close tie between death and at the gates.
