I suggest Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer. It has more coverage than you would think and it blends very well.

I like Bare Escentuals foundation in Fair, Neutrogena's Healthy Skin foundation in Blushing Ivory and Carrara Mineral Makeup in Barely There. I have really light skin and found that these worked good. I tried using Maybelline's Matte Mouse foundation in the lightest color, but it was still too dark. I had this problem with Avon too. Personally I'd recommend Mary Kay for 2 reasons.
1) Our foundation was rated #1 foundation under $100 by Robert Jones - I'm not sure if by light you mean light weight as in sheer or light as in shade, if you mean light weight I'd recommend Mary Kay's Tinted Moisturizer
2) The customer service: if you find a Mary Kay consultant in your area she will color match you to make sure you are wearing the perfect color for you. It's hard to tell what color you should wear by looking at stickers on the box in a store.

Try the ones that are recomended in the other answers. But for a good light foundation, try a night stand, desk or table. There are two kinds of everything you know.
