I ask this question to find out do people really do things to help people just to help or is there some hidden agenda.

Some of them run for office because it is the only way they can keep the Ranch, Farm, Business, subsidized or otherwise, from becoming Public Property after their families have owned it for over a hundred years.

Auctions don't usually get as much money as they would like for it.

It sounds like you are asking if candidates run just because the office needs a warm body or if they just have a big ego. I like to believe that most start out wanting to do as much as they can for their communities or what ever and eventually some of them realize how much money they can make in office (not necessarily corruption) or it becomes a big ego trip for them.

Power and money. Lawmakers sell influence, receive lifelong benefits that you and I get to pay for, and then go to work for the business they support after they leave office. It's shameful.

i worked on a campaign where th guy was pissed at the guy in office and knew he could do better and whatever, so he ran and he's doing a swell job so far.
