Do you listen to music while studying or working?

Do you listen to music while studying or working? Does it help you focus? Why? Why not? What type of music do you listen to?

I used to, now I have a son, so the only background in Kiddie programs...Before my son, I used to listen to different music for different things. Example, Dishes and kitchen stuff would require high energy music. I really liked to clean to Rancid. General cleaning I like Matchbox 20 or Lifehouse. Cooking I listen to whatever the mood takes and lastly, study or intense concentration I love Tchaikovsky. All of these different types of music really helped keep me in the zone so to speak.

Yes, I do listen to music when I am studying because I cannot stand the quiet. If it is quiet in the room I focus in on the littlest of sounds, such as a ticking clock, and my mind wanders. However, keeping music on does in fact help me focus. I usually listen to classical or movie soundtracks when studying.

I had a job where I could not function unless I had my music. It really helps me focus and work with more ease. I like to listen to my favorite local radio station, or Sirius satellite radio on the internet. I was always by myself so I didn't feel so alone with the music. Now I work in a very quiet office where there is no music and it is not so bad because there are people around me. I also have more time to answer questions! I also listen to music while dressing, doing the dishes or anything. I like to have background noise.

I listen to music during whatever task I'm performing. When I get up in the morning the first thing I do is put the music on. It just helps move things along.
