Our family spends a lot of time in the car, but I have never considered getting one of those car dvd players. We (my husband, myself, and two boys) generally play games, like "I spy "or our own version of slug bug.... or we listen to the radio and quiz eachother on the music, but never have we used tv to entertain our children while on the road... how many out there do? If so Why?

I am a single mom and work fulltime. So, I don't get a lot of quality time with my son. I really look forward to our rides on the way to work and back home. He enjoys it too. He is lamost 2 years old now and really learning to talk well. We look at cars as they go by, we sing songs, we go over our numbers and letters, we do animal sounds and other sounds.
I have thought about a car DVD player and still may get one for longer trips. I have one coming up soon and may consider using it. Otherwise, I really do enjoy this special time of bonding and he absolutely loves it-not to mention has learned so much from it as well.

I have a DVD player system in the car,but I don't let the children use it on every journey.I only let them use it when we are going to be travelling in the car for over 3 to 4 hours at a time,that way I can have the 3 children in the car not so bored otherwise they start to fight.

They don't watch movies in the car. We spend the time talking and laughing.

Yes they mainly watch movies and play a few games. It's worth it. They talk less

i don't have kids right now, but i would definitely let watch movies/tv in the car.
