I don't necessarily think they always tell the truth. However, I do know for sure that intoxicated people will say the things that they don't really have the nerve to say being sober. They feel like the person they wish they could be when they're under the influence. It's pretty much a false sense of self.

That is an old wives tale. Just because a person is under the influence does not mean he is telling the truth. If a person will lie to you while they are sober they will lie to you drunk. The only thing that druinking will do is lower inhibitions that you have when you are sober. Alot of people make mistakes while drinking that they would not make when sober.

There are 3 kinds of drunks..
1)Ones who go totally crazy, and forgets themselves, ones who can't control themselves, ones who just goes on talking and talking. They are the ones who just throws up unexpectedly, act extremely stupid. They are usually the ones who don't drink much..They are the ones who tries to show off when they are drunk, and says " I am not drunk!!" reality is - They are STupid, Crazy, retardly drunk

2)Ones who, no matter how drunk they are, They can keep their pausture, or standing, they can stand there and just talk socially (but more louder and crazier, of course), even tho they are straigh drunk off their asses..These drunks still have their mind, but they are only "slower" so they can't also Lie very good with no blushing or nervousness. They are the ones whom, when they have to throw up, they say to the crowd "excuse me, i need to go yak(throw up) ril quick". . They are also able to drive home, and they are able to say, ""I can't drive right now because I am way Tooo drunk". This category is where I am in.
3) This category is the one which happens to ALcoholics. Both 1 and 2 can fit here. This is where they BLACKOUT. But both drunks from 1, or 2, would still act according to their category. Even when they blackout, they stil have their personality, But the outcome is all the same for both, THey forgot what the heck they did the whole night.

So, to summarize, the drunks do not always tell the truth.. SOmetimes you think its the truth, but it truth is, soem are, but for the liers, it is easier for them to lie, because they are not nervous anymore from the alcohol.

Consuming alcohol lowers people's inhibitions and allows them to openly say and do things. This is commonly why drunk people act silly or obnoxious.
