Hmm well I'm a secondary teacher so usually when my girls hate eachother they fight it out! LOL. My best advice is to not try to make them love eachother. That isn't going to happen--they are all different and unique. Try to encourage a culture in the class where they want to please you the teacher and make it clear that treating eachother with kindness and respect is what you want. It is also something that adults do. You can do classroom activities where you tell a story about a girl you had a conflict with when you were younger (make it up if you have to!) and how you dealt with it. Talk about how you deal with adults you don't like. I never particularly liked my son's preschool teacher but I always went out of my way to treat her with kindness and respect. I did this because I am a strong capable woman who knows that how I treat others reflects on me. You don't make yourself look good by taking other people around you down. Regardless of what the television sitcoms say!

You are the teacher and it is important that you slam them down immediately if they ever think about disobeying anything you tell them to do. Any comments about not wanting to because they don't like so and so will be reported to their parents immediately. If the parents give you crap remind them that they don't get to chose their workmates and neither do their children. Just as you don't get to chose you class! You could just have one of those arcane rules like anybody who says anything negative about somebody else during the day gets no speaking privileges the rest of the day. Unless its you of course!--that's your job.

I know it all sounds archaic but they'll get away with anything as long as you let them. Kids really do love and appreciate a class where everybody knows they are absolutely safe from ridicule from the other kids.

its kinda hard to make 3rd graders like each other and its typical for them to be fighting alot!! try make little prizes wen they behave good together . try putting them in groups together and watch them carefully. if they dont scream at each other or fight give out candy or something they like. and do the same with the boys so they dont feel left out!!

when you have your p/t confer. tell the parents to be there at a certain time so that way all of them will be there and tell the parents what is going on.
