okay, so peyton manning and the colts restructured his 100 million dollar contract so that the colts will save money in the salary cap? how does that work? so is manning getting paid less?

he was to get a roster bonus of 10million, which would count towards the cap-room (109million), but he changed the kind of bonus in his contract to a signing-bonus type bonus which can be spread over the remaining years in his contract (meaning it will now only be ~2+million, allowing them to use ~8million for paying other players.

I may have not used the term "regular" signing bonus, but if you read the article, it's pretty clear whatever he's doing is saving them $$, but not eliminating the bonus from the Cap

signing bonuses dont count towards cap room. He probably got more of a signing bonus

he is probably getting a bigger signing bonus which does not fit into the cap as much.
