Life on Mars - American Version?

Question

I've Just heard that they are going to be making an American version of 'Life on Mars'

Does anyone know of any other British Programmes that have been re-made in America?

Are they any good?

Well, they re-made Coupling, it didn't last long.

The US remake of The Office is still doing well.

Pop Idol became American Idol (although it can be argued that Pop Idol was a blatant rip off of a New Zealand TV show format). Plus they remade Men Behaving Badly, Cracker and Cold Feet

Go back in time a bit and...

Man about the House became Three's Company.
Steptoe and Son became Sanford and Son.
George & Mildred became The Ropers
Til Death Us Do Part became All In The Family

Personally, I think the British version is just fine (I am an American and watch this on Biography Channel). We get lots of good British programming on the BC. I suppose some of the cats her in the Sates have a hard time understanding some of the Brits' language. I LIKE to listen to it!

Don't know of any others - this is the first I've heard of this!

yes there was a programme called "queer as folk" shown in Britain which was re-made in the states, and it was too long and complicated compared to the British version.

No doubt the American version of Life On Mars will be big budget over the top crud as usual

The office was re-made for the american TV audience. I have only seen one episode and it is very different to the British version. Apparantly the americans love the US version, but they would not have understood the British version at all!!.

Americans - You can't help but love them!

i believe that desperate housewives and american idol are brit ripoffs.
